We've spent years working in platform engineering and site reliability roles at companies ranging from early-stage startups to scaling organizations. Across all of them, we encountered the same recurring problem: Kubernetes costs were a black box. Cloud bills arrived at the end of each month, went up every quarter, and nobody could say with confidence what was actually driving the increase.

The existing tools in this space fell into two camps. On one end were enterprise platforms that required weeks of setup, dedicated staff to operate, and pricing that only made sense for large organizations with seven-figure infrastructure budgets. On the other end were simplistic dashboards that showed you CPU graphs but couldn't answer the basic question: "Which team or service is costing us the most, and what should we do about it?"

We wanted something that a single SRE or platform engineer could set up in an afternoon, that any developer could read without a training course, and that actually told you what to do — with specific dollar savings estimates, not vague efficiency scores. Something that made findings actionable — not just reports that sat unread.
